History

The Kinsmen Foundation of Saskatchewan was established in 1971 and became active in 1972 to co-ordinate joint programs of the Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs in the province to assist Saskatchewan people with physical, mental and social disabilities, as well as regional and provincial organizations serving the disabled.

Until 1976, the Foundation operated on grants from its member clubs, plus individual and group donations and memorials. Funds raised in the initial years totalled about $105,000. Requests for assistance far exceeded the funds available, so the Kinsmen and Kinettes in District III organized Telemiracle to meet the financial requests from individuals and organizations seeking the assistance of the Kinsmen Foundation.
