The P.O.W. City Kinsmen Club is comprised of between 30 to 40 members who give their time and energy to perform service functions and run fund-raisers for worthwhile charities in Saskatoon. The club was created in 1969 after being chartered by the existing Saskatoon Kinsmen Club. The P.O.W. City club holds meetings on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month from September to the end of June each year. Club meetings are usually held at the Sands Hotel in Saskatoon. Each year the club organizes, funds and operates anywhere from 10 to 15 service functions and fund-raisers. The club is very active running events such as a Xmas Tree Lot, Bike Safety Program and Telemiracle to name a few. The club has provided much needed manpower and money to such local charities as Camp Tamarack, Cystic Fibrosis, Crime Stoppers and The Friendship Inn. The club is run by an executive of eleven members. Each May a new executive is elected for the following September. Kinsmen is a national organization which has divided the country into districts. Each district is then divided into zones. The P.O.W. City Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon belongs to District III - Zone D. P.O.W. ["Potash, Oil and Wheat"] |
